First father and son duo features Lakers opening game domination
The first-ever father and son duo happened on the opening night of the NBA's 2024-25 Season when the Los Angeles Lakers defeated Minnesota Timberwolves, 110-103, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
The historical feat happened in the latter part of the first period when LeBron and Bronny James were fielded in together. They shared the court for more than two minutes.
According to LeBron, family is the reason why he wanted to play together with his son in the league.
"It's always been family over everything. For me, I lost a lot of time because of this league and committing to this league. Being on the road at times, missing a lot of his things, Bryce's things, Zhuri's things, so to be able to have this moment where I'm working still and I can work alongside my son, it's one of the greatest gifts I've ever gotten from the man above and I'm going to take full advantage of it," LBJ said.
The younger James on the other hand said that he was happy that the opportunity to be part of the league and play together with his father has been given to him.
"I'm just extremely grateful for everything. I was given an amazing opportunity to come in this league and get better every day and learn every day." said Bronny.
The father-son connection of James might have been one of the highlights of the game but it was Anthony Davis who stole the show for the Lakers.
Davis scored a game-high 36 points with 16 rebounds. The veteran James added 16 markers for their team, while Rui Hachimura contributed 18.
The Lakers also pounded the paint with a 72-40 advantage. They also have the advantage in fastbreak, stealing and blocking categories.
Meanwhile, Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 27 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Newly-acquired Wolves Julius Randle added 16 markers and nine boards, while the other new member of Minnesota Donte DiVicenzo put up 10 points.
The Timberwolves will face Sacramento Kings on Friday, October 25, (PHT), while the Lakers will battle Phoenix Suns on Friday (PHT) as well.
