History was made early when Kaila Napolis delivered the country’s first medal in Chengdu, clinching silver in the Jiu Jitsu Newaza -52kg division after a hard-fought final against South Korea’s Eon Ju Im.

The second silver came from Filipina cue artist Cheszka Centeno, who battled China’s Han Yu in the Women’s 10-ball final. While Centeno fell just short of capturing a historic gold, her consistent performance reaffirmed her elite standing in the global billiards scene.

The country’s lone bronze medal, so far, was earned by Carlo Baylon in wushu sanda. Facing Kazakhstan’s Islam Karimov, Baylon seized control early with aggressive takedowns and sharp striking, dominating the bout to secure a vital win for the Philippines.

With the World Games still ongoing, Filipino athletes remain determined to bring honor to the flag and inspire the nation through their dedication and excellence.
