Team PH kicks off campaign at the World Games 2025 in Chengdu
As the World Games 2025 officially opened, the Philippines’ 48-strong delegation proudly marched in the parade of nations during the vibrant opening ceremony at the Tianfu International Convention Center in Chengdu, China, marking the start of the country’s quest for glory on the global stage.
The contingent is composed of 19 athletes competing across various individual sports, alongside members from two team sports, all carrying the hopes of the nation.

Leading the Philippine squad were wushu star Agatha Wong and wakeboarder Raphael Trinidad, both honored as official flag-bearers. Their presence at the front of the delegation symbolized not only their personal achievements but also the determination and unity of the entire team.
This year, Team Philippines is determined to improve on its performance from the 2022 edition in Birmingham, Alabama, where the country took home a single gold medal courtesy of karateka Junna Tsukii. That achievement, while historic, has fueled the athletes’ motivation to aim higher in Chengdu.
Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman John Patrick “Pato” Gregorio, Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, and Chef de Mission Stephen Arapoc are also in Chengdu, lending their full support and encouragement to the athletes throughout the competition.
With a balanced mix of seasoned veterans and rising stars, Team PH enters The World Games 2025 ready to showcase world-class skill, unyielding heart, and the resilience that has long defined Filipino athletes. Over the coming days, the nation will be watching closely, hoping this campaign produces not only medals but also inspiring moments that will be remembered for years to come.
