"It's a fun experience because I'm competing here where I grew up, and it's also where I learned to swim since Kinder. I've been swimming here, especially that I am also here for an international competition," said Fernandez.

"It's a huge boost for me to see familiar faces. It just really brings so much joy and energy. Hopefully, I can increase my medals," added the UAAP Season 86 Individual Sports’ Athlete of the Year.

Fernandez won her first gold in the 50-meter backstroke and silver in the 4x100 400-meter freestyle class on Monday, December 2. She also topped the 4x50 girls’ 200-meter medley and freestyle relays.
