Capital1 secures first win in All-Filipino, dominates Nxled

The Capital1 Solar Spikers won their first game of the 2024–25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference after prevailing over the Nxled Chameleons in four sets, 21-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-18, on Saturday, November 30, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

The Solar Spikers ended a three-game losing streak and improved their record to 1-3 after rallying from an eight-point deficit in the second set.

With a 13–20 deficit, Capital1 was on the verge of losing the second set after losing the first frame. However, the arrival of May Macatuno, replacing Iris Tolenada off the bench sparked a change in momentum.

"In the second set, it was almost done since they were already ahead of us in points. But when I put May Macatuno inside, the momentum shifted. Maybe that's why we caught up, we passed," said Capital1 head coach Roger Gorayeb.

Heather Guino-o top scored for the Solar Spikers, registering 21 points, including 19 attacks, and two blocks, to earn Player of the Game honors. She also produced seven excellent digs and six receptions, steering her team to bounce back from a 0-3 start to the season.

Leila Cruz tallied 17 markers, 15 of which came from attacks. Patty Orendain chipped in 10 points and six excellent receptions, while Tolenada recorded 16 excellent sets and five points.

Capital1 will aim to secure their second victory when they face Galeries Tower in Cebu on Saturday, December 8.

Meanwhile, Nxled suffered its fourth straight defeat to begin the competition.

Chiara Permentilla paced the Chameleons and was the only double-digit scorer. She built her game-high 23 points on 20 assaults, two serve aces, one block, and eight outstanding receptions.

Nxled will try to snap their losing skid when they play against undefeated Cignal, also in Cebu.
