ZUS Coffee notches second win against Galeries Tower
ZUS Coffee kept their momentum alive, logging its second victory against winless Galeries Tower, 25-22, 25-16, 25-19, in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig on Thursday, November 28.
The Thunderbelles achieved their first-ever sweep since entering the league in the 2024 season with this victory.
ZUS Coffee, once a consistent bottom-dweller, is currently tied for fourth position alongside Petro Gazz, Akari, Chery Tiggo, and Choco Mucho, all of whom have identical 2-1 records.
"Excited, of course. We see them practice, we see them improve. We want growth, we want maturity, especially what veterans bring. It was a big push for us, so hopefully we will continue," said head coach Jerry Yee.
Chinnie Arroyo led the charge for the Thunderbelles, finishing with a team-high 14 points anchored on 11 attacks, two aces, and one block.
Chai Troncoso delivered 11 along with eight excellent receptions, while Thea Gagate, the top overall pick of the inaugural PVL draft, added nine points and three blocks.
Jovelyn Gonzaga and Michelle Gamit each contributed seven points to complete ZUS Coffee's well-rounded attack.
ZUS Coffee aims to further extend its momentum against sister team Farm Fresh on Thursday, December 5.
The Highrisers, on the other hand, continued to struggle and fell to 0-4 in the competition.
Roselle Baliton and France Ronquillo both tallied 12 points apiece, with Ronquillo also adding nine excellent receptions and six digs.
Jho Maraguinot chipped in 10 markers, while libero Alyssa Eroa finished with 11 excellent digs and nine receptions.
Galeries Tower seeks its first win on Sunday, December 7, when they face Capital1 Solar Spikers in Cebu.
