“I’m not gonna be able to run due to an injury,” Cabang posted on his Instagram story. “Thanks to all the people who supported me. Laban Pilipinas!”

Cabang Tolentino was relegated to the repechage after finishing sixth in Heat 1 of the first round of the men’s 110m hurdles, clocking in 13.66 seconds.

The athletics' hope to clinch a podium finish was elusive as Cabang Tolentino's withdrawal in the competition concluded the athletics' Paris Olympics campaign, with EJ Obiena finishing fourth in the men's pole vault and Lauren Hoffman failing to advance to the semifinals of the women's 400m hurdles.
