Subic Bay eyes tourism boost with Shore Fishing tournament
Fishing enthusiasts from across the country and abroad are set to gather in Subic Bay for the first-ever Subic Bay Shore Fishing Tournament, happening from August 8 to 10 at the San Bernardino Fishing Site.
Organized by Fish’n Town in collaboration with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), the pioneering event marks a significant milestone in the region’s push to promote sustainable fishing practices while celebrating its rich marine biodiversity.
“This tournament is part of our larger mission to stimulate sustainable tourism and position SBMA as a prime destination for sport fishing in the North,” said SBMA Chairman Eduardo Aliño. He added that the initiative is a step toward transforming the area into the fishing capital of the Northern Philippines, while boosting ecotourism and marine conservation.

Major sponsors have joined hands to support the tournament, which is expected to boost the local economy with participants and spectators contributing to the growth of tourism-related services in the area.
“First and foremost, we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our fellow anglers for the massive and enthusiastic response to this groundbreaking event,” said Mye Acuna, Producer of Fish N Town TV. “The number of registered participants has far exceeded expectations — a true testament to the strength and passion of our fishing community.”
Beyond the competition, the event reinforces Subic Bay’s commitment to marine conservation and environmental stewardship, reflecting a growing movement toward eco-friendly tourism and sustainable recreational fishing.
As the reels get ready and lines are cast, the Subic Bay Shore Fishing Tournament is not only making history—it’s also setting the stage for a brighter, greener, and more vibrant future for sport fishing in the Philippines.
