Risa Sato parts way with Creamline ahead of All-Filipino Conference

The Creamline Cool Smashers will be without veteran Risa Sato in the upcoming 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference.

The Cool Smashers announced the development on Friday, November 8, specifying the Filipino-Japanese middle blocker asked for an early release from her contract which was set to expire at the end of the year.

“Creamline would like to inform our fans that Risa Sato has requested to be released from her contract, which is set to expire at the end of December 2024. This request for early termination though will still be subject to the conditions outlined in her existing contract,” the Cool Smashers’ statement read.

The 30-year-old Sato has been with Creamline since 2018 and has won 10 PVL titles, including the historic Grand Slam last season. 

The Cool Smashers furthermore expressed its understanding and full consideration of her request in light of her noteworthy contributions to the team, allowing her specific accommodations to support her as an athlete while adhering to the provisions of the contract.

“On behalf of management and the entire team, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Risa for her dedication and service. Her efforts and good vibes have been instrumental in our growth and success, and we hope she has gained valuable experiences during her time with us,” it added.

No word yet on where Sato will play next come the new PVL conference which begins on Saturday, November 9.
