PBA: Ros coach Guiao is happy for the performance of his former players

Seeing the performance of his former players’ makes Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao happy after Game 3 against TNT last  Sunday night, October 13, in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Even though Rey Nambatac, Calvin Oftana and Paul Erram were considered by Guiao as problems in Game 3 because of the tight defense they showed, he’s still thankful that the Elasto Painters got the narrow 110-109 win over the Tropang Giga.

“Siyempre masaya kang makita sila doing well with other teams, how they improved as a player from the time they played under me. Buti nakalusot kami kay Poy.”

“We’re able to hang in there against a great team, with a great import. Every game is a learning experience for us. Mabuti nailusot namin kasi ayaw naming ma-sweep kamukha nung last semis namin sa San Miguel," said Guiao.

Nambatac was Guiao's former player in Elasto Painters, as well as Erram and Oftana in NLEX.

Guiao's former players showed their brilliance in the game where Nambatac and Oftana contributed important points during the first two games of the series where TNT won it.

Meanwhile, Erram also posted a career high-tying and playoff career-best of 27 points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks in Game 3.

After recording 7 points in the first half, the 35-year-old big man piled up 9 in the third quarter before spreading his 11 in the final canto.

But in the end, the efforts of RoS import Aaron Fuller prevailed for Rain or Shine to escape the win and close the best-of-seven series to 2-1.

In the evening of Wednesday, October 16, the Elasto Painters will try to rally again with a win in Game 4 against TNT as they move on to tie the series in the PBA Season 49 Governors' Cup semifinals.
