Alas Pilipinas standouts to debut in PVL All-Filipino Conference
The debuts of Alas Pilipinas standouts Thea Gagate and Julia Coronel, as well as the return of Rachel Daquis and Jovelyn Gonzaga, as likely to add to the excitement surrounding the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference, which kicks off on Saturday, November 9, at the Philsports Arena.
After being selected first by ZUS Coffee in the league’s historic rookie draft earlier this year, Gagate will finally be able to play as a professional, while Coronel, the third overall pick, will also make her professional debut with Galeries Tower.
Due to their national team obligations, Gagate and Coronel missed the league’s first two conferences this season.
Gonzaga, who suited up for a conference with Cignal earlier this year, will have a chance to play again after being acquired by ZUS, while Daquis, who also played for Cignal before taking a break, will return with Farm Fresh.
With the help of teammates Michelle Gamit, Dolly Versoza, Gayle Pascual, and Jade Gentapa, Gagate's debut and the return of Gonzaga should give ZUS Coffee the competitive spark they have been lacking.
While Daquis sought to offer her seasoned presence as Farm Fresh is another squad that is relying on the breakout potential of key players led by the formidable Tisha Tubu and backed by Caitlin Viray, Rizza Cruz, Alyssa Bertolano, and Jolina dela Cruz.
The All-Filipino Conference unfolds with a matchup between Akari and Galeries Tower at 4:00 pm and Petro Gazz and Choco Mucho clashing at 6:30 pm.
