Warriors Star Curry, to miss two games because of his ankle injury

Four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry of Golden State Warriors will miss the next two games because of a left ankle injury that he sustained on Sunday night, October 27.

Curry was injured in the 7:55 remaining of the fourth quarter of Golden State's 112-104 home loss to the Los Angeles Clippers last Sunday. He underwent an MRI late last night.

He finished with 18 points, six assists and four rebounds, while shooting 6 for 11 from the field with four 3-pointers before being subbed-out.

Warriors will be severely handicapped when they host the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday.

However, Curry is scheduled to be reevaluated on Friday. Good news for them, the MRI showed no structural damage.

The Warriors also confirmed that he (Curry) suffered a peroneal strain in the area where tendons connect the fibula and ankle.

“The good news is the MRI is pretty clear, and we don’t expect this to be a long-term [absence],” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.

Aside from Curry, guard De’Anthony Melton is also forced to skip the back-to-back games against the Pelicans because of lower back strain. He also underwent an MRI on his back, however the MRI showed no structural damage and will be re-evaluated also on Friday.

Melton missed more than half of last season's games for Philadelphia with back issues, averaging 6.3 points and 2.7 assists a game.

Coach Steve Kerr added  that Andrew Wiggins will also be “most likely out” with a back strain.

“There’s a good chance we’ll keep [Wiggins] out. It’s early in the season. We’ll leave him as questionable, but I’m sort of planning to play without him,” Kerr said.
