Filipina boxer Nesthy Petecio receives PCG promotion

Nesthy Petecio, a two-time Olympic medallist, received a promotion from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) after winning a bronze medal in the Paris Olympics.

The Filipina pugilist was promoted from Petty Officer Second Class (PO2) to the next higher rank of Petty Officer First Class (PO1).

PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan conducted the ceremony at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila, on Monday, December 2.

"This promotion is a recognition, not only of your Olympic triumph, but also of your unwavering dedication, discipline, and excellence as a Coast Guardian," Gavan told the Olympic boxer.

He added that the Filipina boxer serves as an inspiration to all at PCG, embodying the values of integrity, patriotism, and professionalism – both in the service and on the world stage.

Petecio shared the PCG's message and added that she felt "blessed" by her recent promotion.

She has been a member of the PCG since 2021, following a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
