PVL: Flying Titans back on track after tough win vs. Foxies

The Choco Mucho Flying Titans had a tough game win against the Farm Fresh Foxies on Thursday evening to wrap up the year with an important win in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Choco Mucho squandered a two-set advantage but rediscovered their touch in the final frame to pull off a tough 25-20, 25-21, 21-25, 25-27, 15-12.

“We’re happy with our win, even though we know we still have some shortcomings; we managed to secure the victory. Although we expected that Farm Fresh would put up a strong fight, for us, it was really about working together—not just the coaches but also the players. Our communication needed to be in sync,” Alinsunurin said.

Titans’ head coach Dante Alinsunurin was very much happy for their win and despite their shortcomings they were able to secure the victory. They did not look too far ahead and only wanted to savor a year-ending victory as strong and resilient as can be.

“We’re happy with our win, even though we know we still have some shortcomings; we managed to secure the victory. Although we expected that Farm Fresh would put up a strong fight, for us, it was really about working together—not just the coaches but also the players. Our communication needed to be in sync,” Alinsunurin said.

“Sabi nga ng mga players ko, tatapusin namin ngayong taon na maganda para pagdating ng January, masarap ulit mag-ensayo at maglaro. In terms of skills naman, kahit papano umaangat kahit hindi mataas ‘yung efficiency. Siyempre ‘yung as a team, as a whole, pabago-bago talaga kami ng players sa loob ng court kaya kailangan talaga ‘yung jelling ng team,” he added.

“Minsan kasi, ang team ‘pag wala talagang isang gustong mangyari, nagiging sabog-sabog kaya kailangan talaga namin magusap usap pa para kapag may mga problema kami, maaayos agad,” Alinsunurin concluded.

Meanwhile, the Foxies could not complete the comeback, as their leading scorer Trisha Tubu was one point shy of matching her career-high, which she also set earlier this year also against Choco Mucho, with 31 points on 28 attacks, two blocks and one ace.

Caitlin Viray finished with 15 points, while Alyssa Bertolano had 10, to go along with 12 digs and 19 excellent receptions.
