Folayang supports debut fight of Bomogao in ONE Championship
Former two-time ONE Lightweight MMA World Champion Eduard "Landslide" Folayang has given his full support to Filipina Muay Thai rising star Islay Erika Bomogao in her upcoming debut fight on November 8 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Bomogao will face Japanese striker Fuu in a 100-pound catchweight Muay Thai bout at ONE Friday Fights 86.
In a conversation between Folayang and Bomogao on social media, the former two-time ONE Lightweight MMA World Champion said he has seen how Bomogao has grown and become a great fighter and martial artist.
"I saw how this young lady grew into a great martial artist. Godspeed on your upcoming pro bout Islay, get that big win,” said Folayang.
"You are doing great, champ. Welcome to the platform to showcase your skill, ONE Championship,” the former champion added.
Folayang and Bomogao both trained under Team Lakay, and at that time Folayang was already well-known in the world of combat sports while Bomogao was just starting his career in the field of Muay Thai.
According to Bomogao's social media post, he thanked Folayang for his support for his upcoming match and said that Folayang is one of those who have a big role in helping him improve his training and achieve victory in this sport.
"You were one of my biggest influence growing up. Noong medyo bean training pa ako sa gym, nag-stay ako ng late after our junior class sessions para mapanood kita at ang senior elite team train. You guys starstruck me every day. Thank you for inspiring me." Bomogao said.
